Olga Boczar’s mission in her daily work as a singing teacher is to discover the natural beauty and freedom
of the voices of vocalists
, actors, speakers, presenters,
and singing enthusiasts
– that is, all those who use their voices in public spaces on a daily basis, as well as to expand knowledge and awareness regarding the functioning
of the human body during singing and the appropriate selection of techniques and methods for working with
the voice among singing teachers.

As a vocalist with over 16 years of stage experience
and a long – time academic lecturer in the field of popular singing, she believes that correctly selected vocal training is key to maintaining health and producing beauty in
the voice, and that a conscious teacher plays an extremely important role in this process.

The proprietary method “Voice Balance” is an approach
to learning singing based on many years of academic experience in guiding and shaping voices, researching
this area, and continuous study of the specifics of how
the human voice functions. It involves individual sessions
in a warm atmosphere full of good humor and smiles, based on a holistic approach to singing education
, with
a full understanding of the inseparability of the voice apparatus and the body from emotions. The entire process, based on a variety of exercises and pieces, is focused
on finding “balance,” working to release the body from uncontrolled tensions that disrupt the freedom and fluidity of vocal functioning. The voice training proposed by Olga Boczar is always tailored to fit and adjusted to the skills, challenges, and expectations faced by the student.

Q&A with prof. Olga Boczar

What prompted you to start teaching singing?

Vocal technique is a subject that has always fascinated me. Primarily because I decided to pursue singing professionally,
and my voice didn’t always want to cooperate with me. The time of my vocal studies coincided with a moment when the topic of vocal technique in Poland was just beginning to develop. There was no access to specialized literature or foreign teachers and training. Consequently, despite my searches, I often ended up with teachers who were either opera singers and didn’t fully understand the specifics of popular music emission and style, or they were singers who performed exceptionally well but did so purely intuitively and were not compelled to ask questions about why and how the voice works, because for them, it simply worked.

It is well known that musical ear is necessary to be able to sing well, but good singing and a proficient voice that serves
for many years are primarily the result of training and regular, correct practice
. There are many factors that affect
a proficient voice: from those purely structural and anatomical, to technical issues, such as bad habits and “memorized” incorrect patterns in muscle memory, all the way to disturbances in bodily function, posture, and finally encountering the incredibly vast and difficult-to-assess emotional nature of human beings. For the voice to maintain good condition and serve with proficiency for years, it must also be continually developed.

Therefore, it is important for a singing teacher to primarily have an open mind, possess holistic knowledge about anatomy, and thoroughly understand how the voice works, in order to select the best exercises for the student while also having knowledge in speech therapy, physiotherapy, and psychology, so that in case of any issues in these areas, they can quickly identify them, help the student, or refer themto a specialist in that regard.

How do you treat singing lessons?

It is an extraordinary adventure for both of us, for the student and for me as a coach. The voice is a reflection of the soul.
It is a unique and the most beautiful of instruments, because it is the only one that is within our body, within us
. Developing the voice is a process of self-discovery; it is uncovering one’s inner beauty, a journey into one’s own uniqueness
and individual nature. I am grateful that as a singing teacher, I can accompany each person on this inspiring and fulfilling journey, as they get to know themselves better through their singing and exploration of their voice.

“Sharing my knowledge, experience, as well as the feeling and understanding of music is what I consider the purpose
of my work, both on stage and in the classroom with the student.
Art is a beautiful field of human life; it teaches sensitivity, stimulates reflection, soothes the senses, and enriches life immensely. I am pleased to be both a creator of art
and a companion in the development of those for whom music is also an inseparable part of existence.”

I invite you to embark on this fascinating journey of discovering your potential together!
